This is the current signature count for the petition to restore Net Neutrality. As you can see it has a very long way to go.
Come on people I know there are at least 64,000 of you on tumblr who haven’t signed this yet. Click here to do so
If you have already signed be sure to share the link so that the word will spread.
Hey remember when the Whitehouse decided that too many people were meeting the mark and they significantly raised the number of signatures you needed to get? Like all the Whitehouse ever does in response to these petitions is write up a little thing about why they don’t care, and even that was too much work for them, so they raised the limit.
Mmm yeah, nothing like our voices getting heard. So democracy, very change, wow.
I mean obviously I think this is an important issue but I think it’s also important to illustrate the fact that this petition site is really of pretty dubious merit, even among petition sites. Like, Credo’s petition is almost at 200,000 signatures—six times what the Whitehouse petition has. And that petition is actually going straight to the FCC Chair.
Sign both of course if you want to, but if you’re squeemish about signing up directly with whitehouse.gov (which, like, I get, really) you can still sign Credo’s petition, and the many other petitions running around the ‘net right now.
