  • Even if they were "rescued" from a fur farm/factory/contact zoo/hunting trap and "cant be released into the wild"
  • Even if they're "tamed"
  • Even if the place they come from has legal ownership (Eastern Europe/Asia/Middle East)
  • Even if they're "pampered" and "well cared for"
  • Even if its cute
  • Even if its popular on Tiktok/Instagram
  • Even if its small/"harmless"
  • Even if the owner is utterly clueless to the danger
  • Even if the animal has "never had any problems before"

You are not able to meet every single need a wild animal has in a domesticated household. You cannot meet their dietary needs, you cannot meet their exercise needs, you cannot train out their behavior, you cannot tame down their instincts. Don't share these pictures or follow these accounts, their "owners" are only keeping these animals for internet fame.

Wild animals are not pets.

I know this is getting passed around as pointing out how evil this is, and it is, and I don’t think people are taking it as real advice, but just in case anyone is I am compelled to say that if you are in an overly cold house with no recourse to heat it back up exercising is one of the worst things you can do. You’re just burning energy and sweating, both of which will make you even colder later.

Wear layers, wear warm socks especially, wear a hat indoors, wear a blanket like a cape over two sweaters, eat or drink something hot. Eat heavy food, carbs and meat and fat, so your body has calories to burn on making heat. Moving around to stay warm is only good if you can eventually get somewhere warm to stop moving in. If that’s not an option, the goal becomes conserving energy and trapping as much of your own body heat as possible. If you start to OVERheat, cool down your hands or possibly your face and head, but avoid taking off sweaters or otherwise losing heat from your core.
